Words can't express how proud I am of my friend/personal training client Trevor Breen. He has surpassed his fitness goals and has truly changed his physique and not only lost weight, but kept it off. Hard work, regular exercise, and a healthy diet. He trusted the JFTS process and continues every day.

My programs are designed to teach you the basics at first, then more and more as you progress. I incorporate exercise, nutrition, motivation and fun into every workout.

The positive, supportive vibe at the studio is very difficult to describe, I can't wait to get to work every day and our members are loving the results and lasting friendships they are forming here on their journey to health and fitness.

Joining JFTS has been one of the best experiences for me, life changing to be exact. From the first day, I stepped into the studio, two years ago, to just this morning's class.... I LOVE to go to JFTS. Jason, the trainers, and the other members are supportive and have made me feel like part of a family. Everyone wants the same for each other, success.

Since starting here at JFTS, I have lost over 55lbs and found muscles that I didn't think I would ever see. Even my two daughters, ages 20 and 17, who saw me going to the gym and eating healthy, that they joined, and LOVE it too. We talk about the exercises in this week's class and are always on the lookout for a new healthy recipe to cook. They even push me to keep up with them during class, and to my surprise, I actually can, well most days ;)

One reason I never want to miss a gym day is the expertise and determination Jason shows in each week's new circuit. When thinking, "I got this, there can't be anything new this week." Jason designs something different, with challenges for every member, from beginner to advanced.

Another reason is that of the JFTS team's commitment to a person's health and well-being. They inspire, support, and challenge a person's fitness journey. Every trainer takes the extra time to assist and give advice. The support and experience JFTS offers to members set you apart from the competition.

“I started my journey with JFTS in May of 2015. When I started, I was 237lbs and was on two different types of anti-depressants. In just a little more than a year with Jason and his team, as well as a healthier eating style, and the advise from my family doctor, I was able to get off BOTH anti-depressants!! I started at pant size 20 and am now down to a size 8 and currently 151lbs! My energy level is much higher now and my mind set is so much better too. I cannot thank Jason’s Functional Training Studio enough for being there for me, from the convenient class times and personal training to payment plans. “I have been training with Jason for at least 12 years. When Dr. Norm recommended Jason, he was the only one he thought would be experienced enough to help me.

I was not able to walk any distance, stand straight, get up off a chair, go up and down stairs, and I couldn’t turn myself in bed. Jason worked hours and hours to be able to bend my legs and body. He sure earned his money.

Today, I function very well but there are a lot of things I still can’t do. I am still a work in progress. I think I’ll still say “you’ve got to be kidding” when he gets me to do something that I think I can’t do in a heart beat.

“I followed Jason’s Functional Training Studio on Facebook for one year. I wanted to come to the studio but I was afraid of making a fool of myself. I had put on so much weight and didn’t think I was physically capable. I texted Jason and I went in to see him on August 24 (2017). He made me feel like I mattered. He was kind and wanted to help me. I started exercising on September 12 and I love it. When I started, my sugars were 28.8 and now I have my sugars down to 6.1. My medication is down from 2000mg of Glumexa to 500mg of Metformin. My blood pressure was 145/95. Now, it is 117/73 and my meds are being reduced. My cholesterol is down so no more medications. My life has completely changed since I joined JFTS. “I first met Jason at, of all places, the hairdressers. We chatted a bit, and then he invited me to meet him at his studio for a more detailed discussion of what he could do to help me. The best decision I ever made was to keep that appointment.

I have been coming to the studio for approx. 3 years. Jason has developed a program to suit my needs, and as I have improved, the program has been adapted to the ‘new’ me. When I first started, my balance was a bit off, I could not get down on the floor mats nor up from them without a lot of help, and I was somewhat clumsy and awkward. As my confidence grew and I got better at doing the program, I felt much better about myself. When friends or family learn that I see a personal trainer, they sort of look perplexed, as if to say I should just sit around and not be in the way. Sorry, but I lead a very busy life and the sessions with Jason are what allow me to continue to contribute to my community in various ways.

“Making the decision to contact Jason Crouse of JFTS was one of the BEST decisions I have ever made!!!! I joined JFTS in September 2017, and only 3 months later I am in the best shape of my life! “My journey at JFTS started in early October 2017. My sister started with me and we signed up for a monthly challenge.

All the staff made me feel welcome and were so encouraging. I felt right at home the first night. I decided to do another challenge in November by December I was a proud member of JFTS. In those 3 months I've learned to eat healthier and made exercise apart of my everyday life. Thanks again JFTS!!!”

“When I joined JFTS the end of September, I was unsure of what to expect. I had tried a number of gyms and diets over the years, but never seemed to reach my goal. I remember that I was fretting about changing my diet and how I would manage with Thanksgiving around the corner lol. I also remember Jason instantly putting me at ease and encouraged me to ‘just start’. He said ‘Nicole, Thanksgiving is 3 weeks away! Lets worry about that when it comes…trust me.’ So I did. I left the gym committed to the meal plan he gave me and the workouts. Thanksgiving came and went and Jason coached me right through it. It was so great to have the guidance and encouragement I needed. All of the staff at JFTS are amazing (and the members)! Everyone is so positive and encouraging. Their passion and expertise is second to none. It’s like a family. As time elapsed, I loved getting stronger and seeing the pounds and inches come off, but the rewards were more than physical. I was less stressed, had more energy, was better focused, and so much happier! And I finally gained control over my diet. My family now sees a healthier me and I am so grateful for the ability to set a healthy example to them!

“JFTS has been a staple of my life for the past 2 plus years. When I started in November of 2015 I was at the heaviest I had ever been and after a vacation to Florida, I knew I had to do something. So I joined JFTS with my Wife Karen and our Sister in Law Toby who both had joined earlier in the year and were serious in their training at JFTS.

Joining the 6:30pm crew has been one of the most eventful things I have ever done. The members of this group - past and present - along with the staff were all helpful in keeping me motivated and feeling positive in the classes I attended to a point where if I do not get there 4 times a week it is not a good week. When my Nieces joined in 2016 - I enjoyed pushing them and now - they push me to do one more and keep on going. It worked!!!

After starting to watch what I ate, ate better when I traveled for work and continuing to get to JFTS - the pounds and inches started to fall. Seeing numbers I haven’tseen since the 1990’s was more motivation to push myself to continue in these life goals. 2 pant sizes, over 30 lbs lost - I have more energy and it does feel good when someone I haven’t seen in a bit recognizes me and says something is different and I have no problem saying about the loss of the weight and I had help from JFTS getting there.

Thank you to Jason and all the trainers that have had to put up with me these past couple of years. As I say every class I am in - 12 more!!!”

I'd like to start off with a big thanks to my sister Jennifer Wood! She's the one who introduced me to JFTS and convinced me to try a one month challenge with her back in October, and has been there with me ever since. I really enjoy the class atmosphere and the friendly environment. I'm a bit shy myself so I may not say much in class but I enjoy seeing familiar faces (Shoutout to 6:30AM Class!). Structure is a great thing, having a scheduled time that I was supposed to be there helped me feel accountable, and trainers demoing everything and correcting you if you're doing something wrong is not something you get from other gyms and it keeps me coming back.

When the 12 Week Challenge started up I was hesitant about joining it. I was ok with the pace I was going at and thought that I didn't want to deal with restrictions or follow rules about eating and eat what someone else tells me (I'm pretty picky). Turns out it was the extra push I didn't know I needed. I started and thought, well it's just for 12 weeks, it's not going to be the last pizza/cake/etc. ever, I can go back to eating them after if I wanted to, so why not give it a try and see what I can accomplish. I noticed the meal plan was low carb, so I decided on low carb and mixed it with intermittent fasting was able to find my stride. I don't feel like I'm anywhere near as reliant on food as I used to be, and have little problem saying no to things (most of the time). It's become a lot easier for me to balance the want to eat vs the need to eat.

If I had to pick a reason that keeps me motivated (the staff does a great job of that too), it's that I haven't achieved everything I've wanted in my life yet, and one of the best ways to help me succeed at that is giving myself more time by living a healthier lifestyle.

“My fitness journey started at JFTS back in September 2017. The first picture was 4 months before I started, which was June 2017. I was at my heaviest…202lbs. Going to JFTS has changed my life and my health. I would drink 10 to 12 cans of pop a day and now I have been off pop for 9 months. JFTS has the best trainers around and a family like atmosphere. There is no judgement by any other members at all. I started at JFTS and never gave up like I have in the past. It is by far the best gym in the city and I would like to thank Jason Crouse for being the best trainer I have ever had. Thank so much! It feels good to be recognized by JFTS. “I first joined JFTS in the summer of 2014 when I was training to qualify for the Canada Winter Games in 2015 for judo. With the help of Jason and the whole JFTS team I was able to win both qualifiers and attend the games in February 2015, where I finished 7th. Since then I have continued to compete at an elite level in judo thanks to the great training at JFTS, helping me become a multi-time Provincial and Atlantic champion, as well as earning a bronze at the 2015 Montreal Cup and the 2017 Eastern Canadian Championships, as well as placing in many National and International events. JFTS has helped me grow as an athlete and overcome the difficulties of dealing with injuries and moving up a weight class, while still performing at a high level. Jason, the trainers and all of the members of JFTS challenge me to be a better athlete and person each time I enter the studio. I always come into the studio in a good mood and leave the same way, just a little sweatier!”

In June of 2015 I overheard a conversation between a co-worker and a friend planning to get in shape for an upcoming wedding in August. They were planning to attend a three month class at this place called JFTS. I was on a weight loss path myself at that time and asked if I could join. Having zero experience around gyms or fitness I thought I would give it a try. What I thought we were joining was the standard run of the mill gym but what we found there was a highly motivated team led by the owner that were there to teach and motivate everyone there everyday. A short time later I convinced my wife to join and we are still going strong. We have made many close friends there and continue to meet new and great people there all with the same goal, get healthy both physically and mentally. The people at JFTS from Jason to fellow clients are an extended part of our family and I can’t wait to watch it grow! Thank you to J and his awesome staff!! ”

My experience with JFTS... May 5, 2017 was the day I woke up and decided that I needed to make a change.

I remember walking into JFTS, watching their members workout and thinking how easy it would be to get back in my car. Jason greeted me with a smile and explained how the beginner program worked. During our conversation he said that I seemed like I didn't know where I belonged. He was right! So I returned two days later for my first class with Trevor and kept returning, finding my place. I set small goals along the way and was given guidance and encouragement from the staff as well as the members so I could achieve those goals. This gave me the confidence to set new goals while still being able to workout at my own pace. Fitness challenges along the way helped gave me a boost, which led me to finish in 4th place. Down 35 lbs. and 4 dress sizes now. Being lighter on my feet was just a bonus side effect, the real prize was the overall feeling of accomplishment. I set out to feel healthier and it was coming together in the form of hard work and a bit of sweat! JFTS has helped me learn one of my biggest lessons and that is how to separate life challenges from limitations. Challenges are always going to be there be it health, family, friendships, money or work, that is life! Realizing those challenges are not an excuse to put limitations on yourself is the key. Don't let fear limit you, it's never too late to take those steps and find your place.

I started my journey with JFTS in March 2015, I was always athletic and somewhat in shape. Somewhere along the way I lost my focus, gained 15lbs and stopped playing the sport I love, ball hockey. I decided that was enough !!! I made a decision and walked into JFTS nervous and scared. Once I met Jason I was at ease. My intention was to get myself back on track and in-shape to play ball hockey and make Team Canada. Jason gave me a meal plan and we focused on my training and I lost 18 lbs and was in the best shape of my life. I went back to playing ball hockey and made the Canada Masters Team in 2016. Jason also gave me an athletic sponsorship which helped a great deal. Our Team brought home the gold and I could not have been prouder. Now here I am, returning from Bermuda with Another gold medal around my neck and incredibly proud of my team . I started in January to train once again to get myself in shape ,losing 15 lbs and gaining more muscle than I had the first time .I am somewhat a yo yo dieter and JFTS got me back on track and focussed on my training .JFTS feels like my family and I am soo blessed to have them all in my life ,Thank you k all your support and love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🏒🏒🏒🏒🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍JFTS strong #strexy

The one thing I have struggled with for many years is being consistent with exercise. I would be so sporadic! Go hard for a month then slack off for a month, and repeat. It wasn’t until joining JFTS two and a half years ago that my mindset finally started to change, and I truly realized the benefits in making small CONSISTENT changes and forming lasting habits. Jason and all the trainers have provided ongoing support and encouragement to me along the way. Every time I finish a class at JFTS, I’m feeling proud and accomplished that I did it again! The workout format at JFTS has worked so well for me! I have lost unwanted pounds, gained strength, endurance and confidence, which has spilled over into other areas of my life too. Thank you JFTS for giving me a place to feel confident, strong, and happy. JFTS STRONG!!!

Lee Calhoun            

In April of 2018, my wife and I were in a car accident and we both sustained injuries. Our truck was written off and we were out of work for 5 months before joining JFTS. We were eating fast food and junk food almost everyday. With the stress of it all and not being able to do much due to my injuries other than attend physio, we both gained unwanted weight. When it came to eating healthy and exercising we had excuses just like everyone does, for example "I don't have the time" or " I don't have energy". Just one excuse after the next. It wasn't until several months after the collision that I received steroids shots in my lower spine. The shots relieved my pain and at this point it was time to do something about the extra weight as well as building up the muscles around my lower back. So we drove to JFTS without an appointment and Jason took us right to his office. Despite his extremely busy schedule he took the time to answer all of our questions and assured us if we followed his plan we would achieve our goals. We knew in that visit alone this was the studio for us. From there we followed the meal plan and attended the studio 3 to 4 times per week, and with the support of our families and the amazing trainers at JFTS, I reached my goal weight loss of 25 pounds in just a few short weeks. My wife and I were able to gain upper, core and lower body strength as well as endurance and more energy! This life changing journey at JFTS has improved my quality of life and for that I feel blessed and grateful. To the JFTS staff and all the members thanks for being a great uplifting support system!

My husband Lee and I started at JFTS on October 15, 2018. Just 10 weeks later I'm down 30 lbs., down 4 jean sizes, eating healthy REAL food, getting into shape, feeling more confident and strong. All in all enjoying the journey with my amazing husband by my side. I never thought I could be down to this weight again. After 11 years, 2 babies and lots of bad eating habits I was starting to accept that this was who I was now. Thankfully I was wrong. I was very fortunate to have Lee by my side to encourage me and help me through each and every day. But with the staff at JFTS you always have a support team helping you, motivating you, encouraging you. It is always a challenge and I push myself to do more as the weeks go by. When I first started I looked at certain exercises with fear lol but now I just feel so proud once I complete each class. I know it's challenging and I love it! At JFTS everyone is so friendly and helpful. No judgements. No negative comments. I highly recommend JFTS to anyone who wants or needs a change. That's what we did and now combined we are down 80lbs. in just 3 months! We are so thankful for all the staff at JFTS and everything they have done to help us get to where we are. Like many, I’d gotten into bad habits with sipping wine a little too often and not thinking a whole lot about what I put into my body in the way of food. And, with time, it had gotten harder and harder to lose weight. I joined JFTS about 3 years ago now and it’s played a huge part in my health and fitness journey. I’m down nearly 50lbs and continue to lose, slow and steady. Eating better and exercising regularly has made a world of difference in how I feel, my confidence, my energy, I feel better than I did in my 20s! What I love about JFTS is the relaxed, fun and friendly environment, not overwhelming and/or intimidating like some gyms can feel. The staff have all been amazing, all incredibly friendly, encouraging, helpful and down to earth. They know my name, I’m not just a membership #. As a morning exerciser I love that I can just walk in and get it done. I don’t have to think about and plan my workout. They take the thinking out of it for

me. I’ve had a couple of nagging minor injuries and the trainers have always been amazing with providing modifications and alternatives, I don’t have to avoid the gym in order to heal. You just don’t get that 1/1 attention at other gyms. I also appreciate that Jason is focused on continuous learning himself which I know will translate into our workouts. All of these things have played a role in developing an exercise routine and lifestyle that I know I can, and will, stick with.”

Sandra Barton

I joined JFTS early December 2016. I was overweight, stressed, not sleeping well. I had no idea of the journey I was about to start or the transformation I would undergo! If someone had told me 2 years ago that I would be doing box jumps, bear crawls, or Turkish getups I would have thought they had lost their minds. Actually, I would probably have thought “what are bear crawls and Turkish getups?” Yet here I am doing exactly that. The metabolic classes and personal training I do with Heather Brittain have changed my life. At 59 years young I am in the best shape of my life. I have lost 32 pounds and 5 inches off my waist. I have energy and endurance I would never have thought possible. The variety and challenge of the metabolic classes and Heather’s excellent coaching and training keep me motivated which keeps me consistent in going to the gym. This is important to me because I get bored easily. I love the feeling of community at JFTS. When I walk in the front door I am always greeted by name. During any given workout I am working out alongside different age groups and different fitness levels but it all works. We all encourage and cheer for each other. I would encourage everyone no matter their age to come join us for a class. Have a consultation with any of the trainers. If you have a limitation with some of the exercises modifications and alternatives will be given to you. JFTS is a lifestyle that will change your life.”

“I was looking for a change to my regular gym routine. I had heard of JFTS so thought I would try it out. I did the free week trial, really liked the classes and joined in July 2017. I always tried to eat healthy but the extras caught up quickly, before I knew it the number on the scale was at an all time high and felt impossible to get back on track again. With the help of JFTS classes and guidance with meal plans I have lost 70 pounds since October 1st, 2018 and feel better than ever! “After a long absence from JFTS I returned last Fall. I had completely fallen out of any exercise routine. I knew I had to do something when one afternoon a short time playing with the kids left me with lungs burning and completely out of breath. In the new year I added personal training and Annette’s amazing ab class. “I’m Sarah, and I started with JFTS in January. Since then, I have lost 30 pounds and gained myself back. I was always one to do lots of cardio but it never seemed to work to get those extra few pounds off. JFTS did not only give me my confidence back, but I also feel like I gained a second family. I couldn’t be more proud to call myself a JFTS member. After being diagnosed with MS I needed to find a solution to feel better and strengthen my muscles and that’s exactly what it has done for me. Taking that hour out of my day to go to the gym just seems normal and now is part of my routine. Valerie Kilpatrick 

I started my journey three years ago this month. I had received a call from my mom on Canada Day, she lived in Tracadie. She wasn’t well and passed away within 2 weeks. The same week I received a call from my family doctor and he told me I had diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure and weighed in at over 250 lbs. He then sent me to the Diabetic Clinic. They gave me life changing tips and advice.

I then reached out to Jason for which I am grateful for everyday for the support that I receive from the staff at JFT’s as well as each member who has cheered me on. I needed to reinvent myself. It was time for a change.

I had worked with Jason for over 10 years at 4 different locations, I believe in his work ethic but I guess “I” wasn’t ready to make the commitment. I believe it took hearing the words “diabetic” to make a change. My mom’s sister had just passed with diabetes, glaucoma – she was blind, and lived on dialysis. So, hearing the words “diabetic” literally scared the bejesus out of me.

My journey at JFT’s has helped me be stronger, mobile and given me endurance. I love the 6:30 am class before I start work for the day – everyone greets you by name. It gives me more energy to take on the day! I mostly do the Wednesday and Friday classes with Heather, she is amazing, positive and supportive. I need so many modifications in my workouts.

I mentioned to Heather one day about 6 months after I joined that I had lost 50 lbs and was no longer diabetic or had any other co-morbidities anymore. Meds were gone!! She then added it to the white board, “No more medications for Valerie”. I was surprised to see my name on the board that week and I have received so much support from everyone. Over the next year I continued to lose, and I have now lost 100 lbs. It’s not an easy journey but the support I receive from JFT’s is what keeps me on this path.

Once I lost the hundred pounds abdominal plasty and breast lift were performed to remove hanging excess skin I now had. I am now ready to move onto the next phase and become stronger and fitter.

Jason has asked me many times over the past year to be a member of the month, but I had refused because I had always failed in the past and was afraid of repeating my past mistakes by regaining weight.

I purchased my first bikini in over 40 years last month to have my picture taken for the body transformation. I never dreamt that I would get to the point in my life that I would be comfortable to wear a bikini let alone have my picture taken in it. Now I am ready for the next phase by participating in the body transformation. I’m almost 60 and never thought I would get here. I want my 60’s to be healthier, fitter and leaner version of me.

Jason has asked me many times over the past year to be a member of the month, but I had refused because I had always failed in the past and was afraid of repeating my past mistakes by regaining weight.

I had never been consistent with exercise or diet. My mindset has changed. I have more confidence.

I have 3 grandkids to enjoy - (18 months, 3 yrs and 6 yrs) and I want to keep up with them. My husband and I now enjoy walks, hikes, kayaking and none of these activities would have happened 2 or 3 years ago.

I love the new me! I am still a work in progress! Thanks, JFT’s and Jason for always being there! Thanks Annette for the Ab classes, which I love and hate! Thanks Heather for always listening and giving support! Thanks, JFT’s and Jason for always being there!

I moved here from Moncton in August 2017, to start a new job. I needed a change in my life, I was stressed, overweight, no energy and not happy with who I was. I removed some poisons out of my life and began my journey. I reached out to JFTS in August 2018 and began this amazing journey I am on today.

With the guidance of Jason and his amazing team, meal plans and work outs as well as support from the JFTS family I have come a long way and I am very proud of who I am today. I have amazing energy, feel great about myself, I like who I have become and the confidence I have gained. Today I can say I have lost 70 pounds and feel amazing.

The challenge of the metabolic classes and excellent coaching has kept me motivated, I’ve met a wonderful family at JFTS. They are all amazing, encouraging and it’s a very fun/friendly atmosphere. JFTS is very welcoming and everyone is known by name. I would encourage anyone thinking of joining this amazing place please invest in this you will not be disappointed!!

I cannot Thank you enough Jason & Annette, for everything you have done for me. Nas, my personal trainer, your encouragement has helped me get where I am today. JFTS has now become a part of my daily routine.

I started a little over a year and a half ago after my doctor in Halifax making a recommendation to join a fitness centre to strengthen my muscles and better my mobility. I chuckled and thought - “sure I have nothing to lose”....... A few days later on a cold winter afternoon I pulled into JFTS parking lot and sat there afraid to go inside. I collected myself and got the nerve to walk in. Immediately, I was greeted with a friendly smile by Annette and Evelynne and a warm “hello”. Jason met and discussed with me what he had to offer at his studio and what he could do to help me. WOW- it was so hopeful and motivating and encouraging....then I thought -I CAN do this and it all began.

I started out doing a personal training program customized by Jason targeted towards my needs. Having both FLEX LEWIS champs Annette and Jason to train and work with me has allowed me to be the strong and confident person that I am today. I still do personal training but now also do the metabolic classes and weight classes. It’s been a great balance. Now a year later, my neurologist is overwhelmed and impressed with how far I’ve come. My mobility is better, posture and coordination are all working together, I’m toned and muscles are sculpting. My back and hip still slow me down a little but I’ve learned how to move correctly and do exercises properly and lift weights. I’m JFTS strong and proud! I’ve regained my confidence and must also mention that I’ve learned to eat properly through Jason’s eating plans and I’ve lost 25 pounds along the way.

Jason and his team are AMAZING and are there to help support and work with each and every member. No matter your fitness level or health issues JFTS has something for everyone and can modify every exercise to meet your goals. Jeanette Chevarie

A year and a half ago, I felt tired, had no energy, was beyond uncomfortable, in and out of my clothes, and embarrassed because I had allowed my weight to rise to 165 lbs. I did not feel myself. I knew I needed to take the steps required to begin to feel myself again. There have been many stages to this process in the last year and a half, however, the biggest was to take control of my body, my health and my weight. I am not a big box gym type of girl at all and find them intimidating, so when I was referred to JFTS, I messaged Jason right away and set up a time to meet with him. I immediately knew JFTS was the right fit for me and becoming a member that day was the best decisions I could have ever made for myself!! JFTS and its members quickly became like a family and a great support in helping me reach my goals!!

I have lost a total of 54 lbs. and I feel so much better, not only on the outside but also on the inside!! I sleep better, have more energy, am stronger and fitter than when I was in my 20’s and have so much more confidence in myself for reaching my goals!! Thank you so much to Jason, Annette and all of the JFTS staff for simply being you and making JFTS such a welcoming, personal, healthy, professional and motivating place to be! Forever grateful.


Denise Jones

On April 24 2019 I woke up and told my husband I have to change something or accept this miserable life I have been living sitting in a chair most days falling asleep and still in pain and very much over weight. I called Jason that morning at JFTS. I became very nervous because I just committed to something I wasn’t sure my body was up for. That same afternoon my doctor told me I was a DIABETIC It scared the daylights out of me but thank goodness earlier in the day I had already signed up for the 8 week challenge at JFTS that started May 01, 2019. The diabetes scare was the extra kick I needed to make the change..I lost 21 lbs and several inches and I became stronger during the 8 week challenge. When I heard about the transformation challenge I thought that is exactly what I need to keep me focused on the journey of lifestyle change. I haven’t felt this good since my high school years and it’s because of my training and support at JFTS. I want to do the body transformation challenge to keep me focused on better health, eating clean and to hopefully be rocking a healthy strong body with full body movements into my future years. And oh yeah to say at 51 I changed my world.

Well after doing the 16 week JFTS TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE I am in a much better place in this world. When I told Jason Crouse I was thinking of doing the transformation his exact words to me were. “Denise the only person you have to beat is the person looking back at you in the mirror “ I kinda chuckled to myself and thought I just see everyone else in the mirror when I am training and they are who I have to beat. Well I soon realized everyone else is doing there own thing, and I am going to have to stop staring through who was really staring back at me. I realize now I was staring past that person because I did not like what I seeing looking back at me. A very overweight unhealthy and unhappy person. So I thought to myself put you big girl pants on dig your heels in and beat that person looking back. So that is what I did, with the help of JFTS and my new JFTS family always cheering me on (and of course my dear husband for always being there and putting up with my some days not so good moods ) I trained 6 days a week tried to eat as clean as possible. With a few slip up here and there I would get right back on it the next day. With that all being said I feel in my mind I have one the challenge because I beat that miserable person that was staring back at me. I now see a confident happy and much healthier person looking back at me that I am now proud to look at and say that is me. I am very thankful Jason Crouse followed his dreams and shares them with Saint Johners in two locations. Without his dreams Of helping people stay healthy and mobile and his awesome team I wouldn’t have met mine, to be fit and healthy in my golden years. Tracy Dempey Hanson

In July 2019 I had reached my heaviest weight ever. I had no energy, no purpose and was sick all the time. On impulse I joined the JFTS 16 Week Body Transformation Challenge. Little did I know, it would be one of the best decisions ever. I knew I needed to be accountable to something, I knew I needed guidance and support. I got all of that and so much more. My transformation goes so much further than skin deep. I have found a sense of peace within and am generally a better, happier person. I have a confidence I haven’t felt in years. I lost 33 lbs during the challenge! The connections and friendships made along the way were such a beautiful and unexpected gift. The other challengers were amazing. Any time I started to doubt myself, they were there to talk some sense into me. We had so many laughs along the way and developed true & special bonds. We became each other’s biggest cheerleaders. It was so heartwarming to see women lifting each other up. The support from Annette and Jason was priceless. They coached, nurtured, encouraged every step of the way. They believed in me long before I could believe in myself-for that I am eternally grateful. This truly was an amazing, life changing experience.

Wow, I cannot believe I am here with JFTS, and I know I am where I should be.

Everyone has a story and this is mine......

I am 61 years old, married and have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren, with another on the way.

My husband and I returned to Saint John following retirement to be closer to family.

Enter my new neighbour, Linda Wright and fellow JFTS member, who invited me to a workout class. I loved it and how I felt afterwards. I knew this is what I needed to get my body and my mind stronger.

Since joining the gym I have lost about 20 lbs and gotten stronger than I have ever been and I am not done yet.

My current goal is to do an unassisted chin up and I am almost there. Next up will be weight lifting and bench presses, I am anxious to see how much weight I can manage there.

It is important to me to get and stay as strong physically and mentally as I can. In January 2012 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. I was told the time line for me was about 5 years, hahaha, I said no thanks. I plan on being here in 20 years time. Currently 8 years in and I am still in my first line of treatment.

I am in the fight of my life and by surrounding myself with loving and supportive family and friends and good people I will be loving life for years to come.

JFTS, thank you, the love, support and encouragement I get every time I am in the gym is a real treat. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it here!❤️❤️❤️
